“If I Could, Why I’d”… Well, She Did
November 10, 2009 by dwil
I‘m taking care of family biz and writing today. I didn’t know what I was going to do for a post when I saw an e-mail form Miranda. I DVR’d this video when the incident occurred and watched it at least 50 times. If you’ve already seen it – it’s been everywhere – hell, enjoy it again. If you haven’t seen it, you won’t believe it.
All I can say is, if she was Black, her actions would be career-makers for an up-and-coming Don Imus or Rush Limbaugh wanna-be. ESPN would be covering her 24-7 and begging for her to be arrested. Michael Wilbon, who, as it is, said the opposition should have beaten her down, would have said she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and the institution with which she is affiliated would have given her the boot.
But, thankfully for her, she’s White. On the Dan Patrick radio show, Patrick said his staff was appalled but to a person they wanted to date her.
Because I saw what triggered her actions and understand that there apparently was some alleged favoritism paid to the opposition during the regular season due to their national status, I thought what she did was outrageous, but, because there are circumstances that predicated her act, it was also a damn fine example of vigilante justice.

I believe Serena was described as “menacing” for her cussing out that line judge…..so ummm….what do ya call this?? LOL!
well if that soccer thing doesn’t work out, maybe she has a shot at MMA.
Sort of like sending out a goon or ruffian on the field/court/ice to get a point or two across…of course, her gender/skin tone plays a role in this since you are hardly hearing any out right anger you’d see pointed in other directions.
“Ahhhh, to be a so-called minority in The States…”
o_O
Yo, she roughed that chick up with the two-piece at the end. My brother told me about this, but since I don’t watch ESPN I hadn’t seen it yet.
Wow! Where’s the LeGarrette Blount treatment? She could’ve seriously injured someone given that there was no intervention until way later. At least Blount did what he did with others around so he and the other combatant could be held back. This is WAY worse than what Blount did!
@ Big Man,
LOL @ “two-piece.” She sho ’nuff did hit that buffie with the ol’ one-two. Stiff jab followed by a hook.
@ Miranda,
There’s a fight out on the web from Rhode Island during a HS girls’ soccer match that turned ugly. Nobody wants to shot down girls’ soccer, do they? The situation that you’re witnessing with Serena Williams is called selective outrage or “spotlighting.” It’s very typical behavior, too.
@ All,
To be honest, the little cutie for BYU shares some culpability here as well, in the tape, she grabs the gal from New Mexico by the shorts around near the base of the “virginia” and I don’t know many women that like that unless you’re comin’ with diamond sets, Cristal and some Luther in the background. That’s not nice to rough up the poonanny like that if you’re trying to see some kitty-cat kung fu up in herre. Just saying. Also at the beginning of the tape, a BYU player CLEARLY elbows the other chick in the solar plexus. I was brought up differently, y’all. In my day, someone does that to you, my father gave me carte blanche to steal a mofo. That’s that “chippy” mess you see from Duke basketball and that’s for little boys. You throw a little cheap-shot like that, you’d better be prepared to take it to the street. Either the official needs to take control the game and start handing out red-cards quicker or, as a coach, yank your team off the field.
@dwill … “Because I saw what triggered her actions and understand that there apparently was some alleged favoritism paid to the opposition during the regular season due to their national status”
I hear you and everyone else on the obvious pass she got/is getting…. but I’m not sure if they are only showing her cave woman behavior after repeated fouls by the other team, or she was just seeing how much more she could get away with.
Now, I’m watching this without sound, but “Bessie” has gone past Tonya Harding, into the heroine from MS 45. I am appalled at the wonton violence in young women from the suburbs today…appalled I tell you!

What’s up with these thuggish white girls?
Phil
You know that’s we talk down here in the South. Like when Chris Childs gave Kobe that vicious two piece back in the day. Got his mind really right.
I actually thought what the chick did wasn’t that horrible after that first elbow. I think she just decided to get hers.
Dang des! They just straight rumbling!
Well, as a woman I’m permitted to say this – but dont let those commercials fool ya…. sometimes midol works, sometimes you just gotta throw some bows.
Dammit, Miranda. Why you gotta play the “fem” card
I won’t say what I really want to say.
Phil,
I see you working, but it was as if the spirits of the Bad Boys, the Knicks, and Tie Domi all entered here body and took up residence just for that game.
” I am Legion, for we are many. “
Has Scrapplin’ Lips come out with his article blaming home girl going apeshit on Hip-Hop yet?
Sorry to highjack the thread but I want to comment on how sad it is to hear that KAJ has CML. Dude is the real deal and a role model in every way for anyone and everyone with any sense. I love the man.
besides all of the comments, I just can’t understand how this was even possible.
Where were the referees?
Shouldn’t they all be suspended too?
Meanwhile; word on the street is that the Grand Slam Committee will be handing down Serena’s punishment next week. An ITF official said they pro ably won’t’ suspend her, because of all the ticket and tv ad revenue they’d lose. They want fine her about 1million — for cursing out a line official. SMDH.
@ Grace,
The Grand Slam Committee wants to fine her a million bucks? Let ‘em. Their motive is as transparent as Scotch tape. Andre Agassi’s book was the best thing to happen to Serena. I hope she uses that time to continue to get her mind right.
And I don’t care what anyone says: I’ve NEVER EVER EVER EVER, even when she was at the height of her powers, seen Kim Clijsters run and hit the ball like she did at the U.S. Open. Something’s up with that. Serena and Venus get dogged by rumors of steroid use and genetic engineering all the time. Ever since they got on the tour. Clijsters retires due to injuries and fatigue, has a child, comes back on the Tour and she’s hitting like the Bionic Woman? I call bullshit. And if Justine Henin shows up striking the ball harder than she did when she was winning Slams, then the sport’s got a bigger problem than a stupid lineswoman making a bullshit call she had no business making.
But since Venus and Serena are black? They can be accused of virtually anything without proof. Clijsters? She’s America’s sweetheart, and she ain’t even American. She might as well be Chris Evert.
This is crazy………………yet the NBA players are called thugs!!
