Steve McNair Murder Update: Sahel Kazemi’s Sister Says Third Person Involved – with an Addendum
July 6, 2009 by dwil
According to Kate Howard of The Tennessean, Sahel Kazemi’s niece, Sepideh Salami (the two women were raised as sisters), feels her aunt was also murdered:
Salmani said she talked to her sister nearly every day, and that she’d been hearing about McNair for several months, since he started coming to Dave & Busters and chatting her up.
“He started to talk to her a little,” Salmani said. “They exchanged phone numbers, and started dating from there.”
Kazemi told her sister that McNair was in the process of divorcing.
“That’s why she was like, ‘OK, now you’re divorcing. We can date,’” Salmani said. “He told her, it was going to be finished, the whole divorce was going to be done, two weeks from yesterday.”
Although a check of Davidson County’s court records shows there is no divorce pending — at least in Nashville — McNair’s house is for sale. His wife, Mechelle McNair, hasn’t spoken to the media. Police said she is distraught over his death.
Salmani said her sister believed that she and McNair would move in together once the divorce was final, and eventually marry.
“All she was trying to do was have fun,” Salmani said. “Nothing else. I believe there is a third person involved.”
Interestingly, the Nashville police remain mum on the third person scenario. It is possible that they too feel both McNair and Kazemi were murdered and are trying not to bring attention to their efforts to determine who the murderer is. This way, if the police do feel the pair was murdered, the suspect or suspects are more likely to remain in the Nashville area.
(more to come…)
Addendum:
About guns, there is this from another Tennessean article:
Kazemi also didn’t like living alone, [Farzin, Kazemi's nephew] Abdi said. One of the conversations turned to talk about Abdi going to a shooting range in Florida. He told Kazemi that since she didn’t like being alone — or if she felt unsafe — getting a gun carry permit would be an option.
“She told me she didn’t have to because Steve had lots of guns,” Abdi said.
So was the gun McNair’s?
Also, most of the Tennessean articles related to the murder mention the fact that no papers of separation were filed by McNair or his wife. I’m of unsure the importance this tidbit of information. Actually, it seems like planted information, repeated ad nauseum to show McNair in the poorest light possible. It is as if every public figure files for a separation from his or her spouse before beginning an affair or another relationship, when it is common knowledge that the opposite is true.
It will be interesting to watch the further spin applied to McNair’s murder.
